Chad and I are always watching for a strong southerly wind in Door County so the waves are strong by Cave Point. Not of course for kayaking, but for tall waves crashing into the caves and cliffs. Chad and I have been there when the water is splashing over our heads on the upper cliffs.
We drove down to take a look when the gusts were up to 20 mph. The trees were really blowing in Egg Harbor when we left. I think they died down a little by the time we were at the lake side of the Door, but the waves were still sizable. We spent some time taking pictures and climbing on the rocks with the waves crashing. Then we headed for a hike down the shore towards Whitefish Dunes State Park. Zack wanted to be hit by a wave, that is until one actually came on shore. He repeated this over and over again.
